This week's spin comes from Guster. The pop-rock outfit — comprised of Adam Gardner, Ryan Miller, Luke Reynolds and Brian Rosenworcel — returned with their eigth studio album Look Alive final week (Jan. 18), Nettwerk/Ocho Mule. The band recorded the nine-song set — their first in 4 years — in a classic keyboard museum in Calgary, Alberta, alongside producer Leo Abrahams (Regina Spektor, Brian Eno/David Byrne, Belle and Sebastian), with extra periods helmed by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Alvvays) and Collin DuPuis (Angel Olsen, Lana Del Rey).
To ring of their newest launch, frontman Ryan Miller put collectively this week's #TBT Mixtape as an ode to his childhood (and go-to different station) in Dallas. The eclectic set options cuts by the Bee Gees, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and extra.
"Music, at its finest, is transportive. Every single one in all these songs brings me to a singular second in my childhood. As a playlist, it reads a bit monochromatic — Dallas, Texas had one of many first different stations within the nation (what’s up KDGE!) and it was a mainline to my soul," says Miller. "How humbling to suppose that different individuals really feel this fashion about our music. It’s the factor that retains me making data in any case these years."
