Lil Uzi Vert came out of retirement on Thursday (March 28) to launch the "Free Uzi" movement with a track by the same name. Even though the Philly native remains entangled in label troubles with Generation Now, Uzi then doubled down on his return, which Atlantic Records deemed to be a leak, with the raw "Free Uzi" video just hours later.
The Qasquiat-directed clip takes viewers on a journey following Uzi on his trip to the local bodega. After picking up a few bags of chips, the 24-year-old dances around and flexes stacks of money with his squad. A bunch of trippy effects are added to enhance the visual when the scene pivots to Uzi hanging in the club alongside one of his staunch supporters in none other than Nav.
Billboard confirmed through a source close to the situation that Lil Uzi has indeed inked a new management deal under the watchful eye of Jay-Z's Roc Nation. The "Money Longer" rapper's first release of 2019 is yet to appear on Spotify or Apple Music, but was quickly uploaded to TIDAL after originally dropping on his SoundCloud account.
