Chicago, IL – Lil Reese and two other men were shot in a Chicago parking lot early Sunday morning (May 16) following a shootout with a man who accused them of stealing his son’s Dodge Durango.

In a gruesome video of the shooting’s aftermath, Reese was shown going in and out of consciousness as blood dripped from his face. While the optics suggested a serious injury, it turned out a bullet simply grazed his eye and he was listed in fair condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

On Thursday (May 20), the 28-year-old rapper popped up on Snapchat to assure his fans he isn’t blind as some reports suggested.

“I’m good I’m not blind or shit,” he wrote. “Don’t believe what you seeing on internet I don’t even kno where tf they getting all these fake ass stories from.”

The trouble started after a 55-year-old man tracked down his son’s Durango using the vehicle’s GPS system and attempted to detain the people in the car, including Lil Reese. Someone pulled out a gun and began shooting. According to Chicago detectives, numerous shell casings were found at the scene while two handguns were uncovered in the Durango.

This marks the second time in 18 months Lil Reese has been the victim of gun violence. In November 2019, he was critically injured when he was shot in the neck by a man armed with an AK47 assault rifle.

At the time, police said officers responded to the intersection of 167th Street and Pulaski Road in south Country Club Hills after they received reports of a shooting. Once they arrived on the scene, officers found a vehicle with fresh blood in the driver’s seat and on the ground next to the door.

Police checked nearby hospitals and located a male with a gunshot wound to the neck area at South Suburban Hospital’s emergency room in Hazel Crest who turned out to be Reese.
