Lights Honors Her Debut Album 10 Years Later With Travis Barker-Assisted ‘Long Live’: Listen

Lights unveiled “Long Live” on Friday (Sept. 20) to commemorate the ten-year anniversary of her debut album, The Listening.

The song pairs the Canadian alt-pop singer’s sentimental lyrics — filled with on-point 2000s-era references like cat-eye makeup and The Postal Service — with atmospheric production and drums by Travis Barker.

“Long live bein’ in love, bein’ obscene/ Long live saying that we’re 19/ Black coffee and acetaminophen/ Long live to listening and everything in between/ Long live the motherfucking team/ Long live the scene/ Long live the motherfucking team/ Long live the dream,” Lights sings on the dreamily nostalgic chorus.

Featuring fan-favorite tracks like “Saviour,” “Ice” and “Second Go,” The Listening was released Sept. 22, 2009. Since then, Lights has released three more studio albums and two acoustic albums, including 2011’s Siberia, 2014’s Little Machines and 2017’s Skin&Earth, the latter of which she reworked into Skin&Earth Acoustic earlier this year.
