Lennon Stella Is Blasting Tame Impala, Frank Ocean & More On Her ‘Night Drives’: Takeover Tuesday Playlist

100

Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week, Billboard taps chart-topping artists and tastemakers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. We give the artists free rein to base the list on whatever subject they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.

Lennon Stella just kicked off a massive North American tour with The Chainsmokers and 5 Seconds of Summer on Sept. 29. The 20-year-old singer-songwriter will spend the next two months out on the road, performing her Love, me tracks like "La Di Da" and her most recent release, "Bitch (Takes One to Know One)" — and of course, her Chainsmokers collab "Takeaway" with the dance duo.

But even when she's not touring, Stella loves being on the road — just for a different reason than playing shows. "When I’m home, driving and blaring music alone is my little safe haven," she tells Billboard in a statement. "I love taking a night drive and just thinking and decompressing to my favorite songs."

The tunes that soundtrack Stella's late-night cruises are a mix of familiar hits, deep cuts and songs by rising stars like Stella herself. The 15-track playlist starts off with Beach House's "Space Song," sprinkles in some Billy Joel ("Just the Way You Are"), and features Stella's favorite tracks from Tame Impala, Frank Ocean and Coldplay.

Roll down your windows and check out Stella's full playlist, as well as some comments about why she chose the songs she did, below.

Beach House, "Space Song": This song has always transported me to some euphoric land. It has such a cool and peaceful vibe to it that makes you feel so free.

The Mamas and the Papas, "Dedicated To The One I Love": This song has the coolest vibe, it takes you back in time. My sister showed me this song and I fell in love with it.

Rufus Du Sol, "Innerbloom": I heard “Innerbloom” for the first time ever live at a festival in Canada, and I sobbed the whole time it played. I absolutely love the feeling to this song — it’s such a good driving song.
