Lecrae & Zaytoven Launch at No. 1 on Top Christian Albums With 'Let the Trap Say Amen'

Christian rapper Lecrae and producer Zaytoven's Let the Trap Say Amen flies in at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart (dated July 7), earning 11,000 equivalent album units (7,000 in traditional album sales) in the week ending June 28, according to Nielsen Music.
Lecrae lands his eighth Top Christian Albums leader among 11 appearances, with all having debuted at No. 1. Zaytoven reigns in his first appearance.
Lecrae and Zaytoven each reside in Atlanta, and Lecrae recently told Billboard that their love blues and gospel inspired their musical partnership. “It's like the blues, man. Blues and gospel. You just feel it, and do it. I think people like Ray Charles, Otis Redding and Isaac Hayes. They all came out the South, and they followed a certain tradition and energy.”
Dating to Lecrae's first Top Christian Albums No. 1, Rehab, which bowed atop the chart dated Oct. 16, 2010, his eight No. 1s are the most among soloists and tie worship music collective Passion's total for the most overall in that span. Bethel Music, Hillsong United, Hillsong Worship, MercyMe and Chris Tomlin share third place with five Top Christian Albums No. 1s apiece in that stretch.
Christian metal band Impending Doom achieves its top start and rank on Top Christian Albums, as The Sin and Doom: Volume ll enters at No. 3 (4,000 units). The Riverside, California-based band bests 2013's No. 6-peaking Death Will Reign and adds its fourth top 10s; Baptized in Filth started and peaked at No. 7 in 2012 and There Will Be Violence opened and peaked at No. 8 2010.
Worship collective The Well debuts at No. 2 on Top Gospel Albums with Worship at the Well, Volume 2 (2,000 units). The act's first entry, Worship at the Well, Volume 1, hit No. 14 in November 2017.
On Hot Gospel Songs, which blends airplay, streaming and sales data, veteran gospel singer-songwriter Marvin Sapp banks his 11th top 10, moving him into a tie with Kirk Franklin for the most, as “Listen” lifts 12-10. Dating to the chart's 2005 inception, Sapp and Franklin outpace James Fortune & FIYA (in third place with 10 top 10s) and Lecrae (nine).
On Gospel Airplay, Zarcardi Cortez rolls up his sixth top 10, as “Oh How I Love You” pushes 11-10. His sum includes two No. 1s: James Fortune & FIYA's “I Believe,” featuring Cortez and Shawn McLemore, ruled for 19 weeks in 2010-11 and “1 On 1” led for five in 2014.
Finally, for King & Country (brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone) earn their ninth Christian Airplay top 10, as the duo's “joy.” jumps 11-9, up 8 percent to 5.8 million audience impressions in the tracking week ending July 1. “joy.” is the pair's first single from its forthcoming album.
