Latto has announced her new album 777 is scheduled to be released on March 25 via RCA Records. The Atlanta rapper shared the news on social media along with the cover art, while also sharing a message to fans about her excitement.
“I put a lot of thought into my artwork I hope u guys love it and understand where I’m at mentally,” she wrote on Twitter. “the music will give just as much as the visuals! I PROMISE U THAT! My heart beating so fast I was nervous to post but I’m ready for this next chapter!!!!! Let’s go!”
Latto released “Wheelie” featuring 21 Savage earlier in March, but her 2021 single “Big Energy” continues to reach even bigger heights. With over 59 million streams on Spotify, the song just climbed to its highest ever Billboard Hot 100 position at No. 14.
Known as Mulatto at the time, Latto dropped her debut album Queen of Da Souf in August 2020 with features from Gucci Mane, City Girls, 42 Dugg, Saweetie and more. Speaking to Uproxx in December, she talked about her journey in rap since an early age.
“I’ve been rapping since eight years old,” she said. “You know how people be like, ‘Oh, I’ve been rapping since I was two years old. Like, my momma put a microphone in my hand and I used to dance in front of the TV?’ No, I’m talking about full-blown, going to the studio, dropping music videos, promoting mixtapes, passing out mixtapes out the trunk of my daddy car.”
She added, “I had a whole career at eight years old. So, it’s the time that I’ve put into it. That’s where people be saying, ‘Oh my God, what is it?’ It’s just I’ve been doing it forever.”
