Kyrie Irving Releases Statement Ahead Of Season-Ending Surgery


Just moments after the Boston Celtics announced that Kyrie Irving would need to undergo season-ending knee surgery, the 26-year old point guard released a statement, revealing that he has an infection in his knee. He also vowed to prove the nay-sayers “completely fucking wrong.”

The message, which was posted to Irving’s instagram account, reads in part,

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Kyrie will go under the knife on Saturday and he’ll need four to five months to recover.

In 60 games with the Celtics this season, Irving averaged 24.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per night. The Celtics, 53-25, are currently sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference and will likely enter the playfs in that position.
