On Sunday, Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue took the stage at this year’s NYC Pride Island event to spread love and joy to the masses. The “Can’t Get You Out My Head” singer dazzled the crowd in a studded white jumpsuit at Pier 97 in Hudson River Park, giving a rare U.S. performance in celebration Pride Month.
But before taking the stage, Minogue had to figure out exactly what it was she wanted to wear to the event. In a video for Vogue, Kylie dances, sashays and jumps all around her dressing room in order to get ready for the event, all to the tune her song “Raining Glitter.”
“I’m performing at Pride tonight, and I just don’t know what to wear,” she teases at the start the video, before launching into a montage her sporting various fabulous outfits, all while getting down in her room. The clip even shows her stylishly vacuuming up a pile glitter left on the floor from her bedroom performance.
Eventually, the video cuts to a clip her performance at Pride Island, showing a screaming crowd fans in their best rainbow-themed outfits bopping along to her songs in the rain. “Raining glitter down on us tonight/ No more hiding in the shadows,” she sings in the background.
In a recent interview with Billboard before her performance at NYC Pride, Minogue revealed that she knew she was a gay icon once she’d learned about a “Kylie Night” at a gay bar in Sydney. “I'm the least Kylie person when I'm at any those nights. I looked like they should not have let me in,” she said. “That's the first moment I can remember where it was a thing, and it's been a thing ever since — which is incredible.”
