Pompano Beach, FL – Kodak Black may be locked up, but he’s putting his time inside to good use by continuing to release music and giving back to the community that raised him. On Wednesday (November 11), the Florida-bred rapper organized an event in his home of Pompano Beach to provide 1,000 frozen turkeys to families for Thanksgiving.

According to TMZ, Kodak spent a total of $15,000 on turkeys that were handed out to hundreds of people at the E. Pat Larkins Community Center between 11.a.m and 1.p.m. local time. Soda and savory snacks were also provided by Kodak’s team members, who initially spread the word with flyers around local neighborhoods.

A community leader who helps feed those in need also helped with the big turnout and will be working with Kodak on future projects.

Kodak’s attorney Bradford Cohen posted about the giveaway on Instagram while quoting lyrics from 2Pac’s 1995 single “Dear Mama.”

“Kodak giving back to the neighborhood…Turkey giveaway tomorrow !!!” he wrote. “#kodakblack #kodak #turkey #turkeyday @kodakblack ‘you just working with the scraps you was given/and mama made miracles every Thanksgiving.’”

Kodak also released his new album Bill Isreal on Wednesday (November 11) via Atlantic Records with features coming from Tory Lanez, Gucci Mane, Lil Yachty, Jackboy and CBE. Ahead of its release, the “ZEZE” hitmaker posted a message on Instagram citing his work ethic and teasing another project on the way.

“Ain’t Nobody Did It How I’m Doing It And After Me Ain’t Nobody Going To Do It Like Me,” he told his 9.2 million followers. “I’m Only Happy When I’m Thuggin’. From The Projects About To Drop Back To Back Projects.”

Kodak is serving a 46-month sentence after pleading guilty to federal weapons charges in 2019 and is expected to be released in August 2022. He’s currently located at high-security prison USP Thomson in Illinois, following his transfer from Kentucky’s Big Sandy in October.
