Ever since publicly acknowledging his sexuality through his music, Brockhampton frontman Kevin Abstract has been met with both praise and criticism, with some claiming that the rapper is merely “queerbaiting,” or rapping vaguely about his sexuality to get LGBTQ audiences to listen to his music.

Abstract is having none of it, as is apparent in a new song teaser posted to Brockhampton’s YouTube channel titled “THE 1-9-9-9 IS COMING.” In the video clip, Abstract is seen lying on a brick wall, before cutting to an image of a hand holding his disembodied head as he sends a message to his detractors.

The rapper starts out by dispelling the rumors that he is simply trying to lay claim to a queer audience, saying that insinuation is homophobic. “I got a lot of guilt inside of me/ My n---as back home ain’t proud of me/ They think I’m a bitch just queerbaitin’/ Quit being a bitch and queer-hatin’,” he raps.

Abstract continues, further establishing that his detractors have no real argument by opening up about his sex life. “Y'all pump faking, I'm a power bottom/ like a Free Mason, y'all stuck playing/ That's complacent, I'm cum chasing,” he spits.

This isn’t the first time Abstract has directly addressed these kinds of perceptions in a song; on Brockhampton’s track “Junky,” the star establishes why he raps the way he does. “‘Why you always rap about bein' gay?’/ 'Cause not enough n---as rap and be gay/ Where I come from, n---as get called 'faggot' and killed/ So I'ma get head from a nigga right here/ And they can come and cut my head off.”

The new teaser comes as Abstract slowly reveals different portions of his mysterious upcoming project Arizona Baby. While the three teasers Abstract released before this came directly from his own personal Twitter account, this video was posted on Brockhampton’s YouTube channel, leading some fans to question whether the new project is a solo release from Abstract, or the group's next album or EP.
