KCON 2018 NY just wrapped up, but KCON 2018 LA still has a long way to go before closing out the West Coast leg this summer’s largest Korean pop-culture-oriented convention and music festival. On Thursday (June 28), the event added four new acts to the lineup, bringing its current total K-pop artists in attendance to 11. Popular girl group TWICE, boy bands IN2IT and Nu’Est W, and vocal pop duo Davichi will be appearing this year.
The four new additions join soloists Chung Ha and Crush, hip-hop's Dynamic Duo, and K-pop groups fromis9, Momoland, Seventeen and Wanna One as performers at KCON 2018 LA. The three-day event will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Staples Center on Aug. 10-12 and will also feature a variety programming related to Korean entertainment and culture.
This marks a return for TWICE and Davichi to the Los Angeles-area KCON, as both artists have appeared in previous years. Nu’Est W is returning for the first time since they appeared as their full five-membered team Nu’Est at the first-ever KCON held in Irvine, California, in 2012; Nu’Est W features only four the group’s members, as Hwang Minhyun is currently participating in temporary boy band Wanna One, which will also be in attendance.
In its seventh year, KCON USA is hosted by CJ E&M and its subsidiary television station Mnet, through which both TWICE and IN2IT were formed through competition programs that aired on the channel. Last year, KCON 2017 NY and LA saw over 128,000 fans in attendance.
Tickets for KCON 2018 LA’s concert go on sale on July 11 at 10 a.m. PT, while tickets for the convention and a variety other events go on sale July 13 at the same time.
