Kanye West: rapper, document producer, designer and now… political mediator?
West says he reached out to Colin Kaepernick in hopes of bringing the controversial athlete to Washington, D.C., for a gathering with President Trump, the artist revealed in a TMZ interview on Monday (Oct. 1).
Kaepernick has drawn criticism from Trump for kneeling through the nationwide anthem as a protest in opposition to racial injustice in America again in 2016 as a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. The NFL free agent's new advert marketing campaign with Nike for the 30th anniversary of the corporate’s “Just Do It” slogan has ignited a firestorm of controversy, with Trump being considered one of Kaepernick's most vocal opponents. In a response to the marketing campaign, Trump tweeted, “What was Nike considering?” and referred to as for the NFL to “fireplace” any participant who takes a knee through the nationwide anthem, referring to the protesting gamers as “sons of bitches" throughout a rally in Alabama final yr.
It’s no secret that Kanye West is a devoted supporter of Donald Trump. On the season 44 premiere of Saturday Night Live over the weekend, West sported his Make America Great Again hat and posted this Instagram the following day that acquired a fiery response from Lana Del Rey.
“We by no means quit on anybody, West instructed TMZ’s Harvey Levin within the interview. “We maintain having the dialog till the dialog turns to like.”
West didn't point out if both Kaepernick or Trump is open to the concept of a gathering.
