Kanye West & Balenciaga Go Half On DMX Tribute Merch

Swizz Beatz wanted Kanye West to have a part in the celebration of life for DMX. Now it appears ‘Ye has come through in more ways than one.

‘Ye’s fashion imprint Yeezy has partnered with Balenciaga to release a tribute t-Shirt to X. The long-sleeve t-shirt comes in black and sports original screen printed artwork of the late rapper. The front is a portrait of X with the right sleeve emblazoned with his date of birth. The left sleeve has the date of his passing. Fans can purchase the shirt at DMX-Tribute.com for $200. The net proceeds from the tribute shirt will benefit X’s family.

DMX passed away on April 9 after a week-long stint inside White Plains Hospital in New York. The 50-year-old multi-platinum superstar suffered a heart attack on April 2 in his New York home and was later hospitalized before he died. Remembering X, Swizz Beatz took to Instagram on April 10 and called him a “one of one.”

“My brother would take care of everybody before he would take care of himself,” Swizz said. “I never seen a human like him. The closest I’ve ever seen to a prophet. Know why he was suffering? ’Cause he took everyone’s pain and made it his. His humanitarian work should be celebrated.”

The celebration of life for X took place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday (April 24) with appearances from Swizz, The LOX, the entire Ruff Ryders Family as well as ‘Ye’s Sunday Service choir. Watch the celebration of life here.
