The long tease of new Justin Bieber music is in full effect. Less than 24 hours after posting an Instagram story in which he suggested that a new album and single could be in our hands before the calendar flips to 2020, Bieber revealed that something pretty great happened on Monday night (Oct. 7).
"Finished something very special in the studio tonight," Bieber tweeted early Tuesday morning (Oct. 8), without offering any information about what said great thing was.
The newlywed singer appears to be on a roll, as just hours before he gave Beliebers hope that the first new studio album since 2015's Purpose is just around the corner. "I'm putting out an album this year!" Bieber says enthusiastically in the Insta video reposted by a fan account, as another voice — presumably wife Hailey Bieber's — asks, "this year meaning… before 2020?," which prompts Bieber to wonder, "Should I put out an album this year?"
"Or should I do it this year?" Bieber wonders in the clip. "Babe, you already are doing it this year," the camerawoman responds. "What?"
"I thought you already were doing it this year," she says, prompting him to re-think it. "You just wanna split it? Album by the end of this year, another song coming out… soon," he replies.
No information was available on Bieber's fifth studio album; a spokesperson for the singer could not be reached for additional information on the album at press time. Back in July, JB promised that he had some "good music coming" and in August he performed a gospel song during a church service and said, "God is pulling me through a hard season."
Bieber is featured on country duo Dan + Shay's brand new single, "10,000 Hours."
