On the heels her debut album's release, Jorja Smith took over NPR for the latest episode their Tiny Desk Concert series on Monday (June 11). The British singer was assisted by a live band throughout the jazzy three-track performance.
The genre-blending artist kicked things f with a soothing rendition the normally uptempo Preditah-produced “On My Mind.” Next, she followed up with standout album cut “Teenage Fantasy” and closed the intimate set with 2016's “Blue Lights,” which she wrote while working at Starbucks and vaulted her burgeoning career.
On Friday, Jorja unleashed her highly anticipated 12-track debut album, Lost & Found, which brings listeners on a journey heartbreak and sees no featured artists. The rising star celebrates her 21st birthday on Monday, boasting vocal maturity and wisdom well beyond her years.
“This last year has been a dream. Achieved things I didn’t think possible. Just released my debut album ‘Lost & Found’ and now it’s my birthday. Never been happier. Thank you to everyone in my life right now, I love you. Life is good,” she wrote in a heartfelt post to Instagram.
