Jessie Reyez Encourages Sexual Liberation on Her New Song 'Body Count': Listen

75

After nabbing Daniel Caesar for her euphonious remix “Figures,” songbird Jessie Reyez is back today with her new song “Body Count.”

Reyez — who has quickly gained traction for her unapologetic candor on records — once again exudes a high-level honesty on her latest outing. “Body Count” finds her soulfully warbling about women embracing their sexuality rather than being timid. “You don't gotta tell me 'bout your body count /I don't gotta know your ex's nam /'Cause if it just so happens that you turn around and ask me /I think you might feel some type way,” she belts.

Later, the precocious songwriter shows flashes wit and humor with one-liners like, “So maybe you should put a rubber on your heart before it breaks” and “I don't hold any anger, I just swerve, Hallelujah.”
