Jay-Z's The Shawn Carter Foundation has joined forces with Toyota to help students visit various historically black colleges and universities across America, as they begin the decision-making process. The annual tour — which first began in 2007 — will bus students on a week-long trip to 11 different HBCUs spanning the East Coast.
Students from 125 different schools in the New York and New Jersey area have been invited to participate in workshops and activities prior to the tour, which will be making stops in Washington D.C. and Atlanta. Each of the foundation's scholars have previously been accepted by at least one school featured on the tour.
Those on the trek will also be afforded the opportunity to meet with college admissions counselors and former students involved with the Shawn Carter Foundation at each college. The tour kicked off earlier this week with help from Hov's mother Gloria Carter. Howard graduate Candice Wong will make appearances and speak on the tour.
