JAY-Z Convinces Meek Mill to Cancel Trump Meeting


Meek Mill called f a visit to the White House on Friday following a call from JAY-Z.

According to TMZ, Meek agreed to travel to D.C. to discuss prison reform at a Prison Reform Summit hosted by President Donald Trump. Participants include members Congress, various activists, and victims the system.

However, JAY-Z called Meek on Thursday night and convinced him that meeting with Trump could be problematic for his image and movement. He also reportedly received calls from other high-prile African-Americans voicing concern.

“I was originally scheduled to be part a panel on Prison Reform at the White House to help shed light on the issues within the system,” Meek told TMZ. “Unfortunately, the focus turned to the President and Myself which concerned me that it might take away from creating a positive result from today‚Äôs discussions.”

He continued, “As a result, I decided not to attend so that the focus would be solely on fixing our prison system. Most importantIy I remain fully committed to improving our criminal justice system.”

The 31-year-old rapper was released from prison on bail last month after serving nearly five months following a controversial sentence for violating probation.
