James Lee and NEKO (Erik Lidbom) have teamed up for "Mad," out today Friday (May 10). The track features Lee sharing his thoughts on how he no longer wants to feel angry at the world.
Lee was formerly the bassist in the band Royal Pirates, but an accident left him unable to use his left hand and ultimately led to his departure from the Korean music world.
"To me, ‘Mad’ is the most important track I’ve written in a long time,” Lee tells Billboard. “It was crucial that the lyrics were a departure from the depressing songs I wrote after my accident -- which is made clear in the hook when I say, ‘I just want to move on.’ We all know how it feels to be sick of something and want a fresh start."
Last year, Lee released his EP The Light after crowdfunding nearly $90,000 -- three times the amount he had set out to raise -- to revitalize his career after his 2015 accident led to him leaving Royal Pirates in 2017.
