Jacqueline Avant Shooting Suspect Charged With Murder

53

Los Angeles, CA – The suspect apprehended in connection with the home invasion of music mogul Clarence Avant’s California homie earlier this month is now facing multiple charges.

According to a report from Variety, 29-year-old Los Angeles ex-convict Aariel Maynor was charged with the murder of Jacqueline Avant on Monday (December 6). In addition to a separate charge of attempted murder for purportedly shooting at a security guard, Maynor is also being pinned with one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of residential burglary.

He is expected to make his first courtroom appearance on Tuesday December 7 at the Airport Branch courthouse in L.A. County.

Within the first 24-hours following the burglary attempt, authorities arrested Maynor after responding to a second burglary in the Hollywood Hills area — where they discovered Maynor suffering from an accidental gunshot wound he inflicted upon himself with an AR-15 rifle.

According to court records obtained by Variety, Aariel Maynor was recently released from prison back in September with a “transient” status and had previously served prison sentences for robbery and was has also been convicted of domestic violence and grand theft.

Countless celebrities and music industry figures have spoken out since the violent murder of Jacqueline Avant, including West Coast rapper Blueface’s manager Wack 100, who used the occurrence as a chance to discredit the movement to defund the police.

“No explanation or No excuses,” he began. “She’s your mother, your aunt, your grandmother the family’s friend She didn’t deserve this. A lot of robberies & home invasions going down. DO WE DEFUND THE POLICE NOW? Naw laws need to change mandatory 25 yrs for a home invasion and the right to murder the ones found in your home or trying to gain entry. Eliminate the call the police or if there fleeing the home part of the law!”

“This needs to be addressed. Streets & Prisons need to punish anybody that hits those jails. Needs to be a paperwork check upon entry …. Don’t WAIT UNTIL IT HAPPENS TO ONE OF YOURS.”

Clarence Avant, widely known as “The Black Godfather,” of the music industry has worked with countless musicians, such as Bobby Brown, throughout his decades-long career as an executive. He was inducted into the 2021 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside JAY-Z and also received the Ahmet Ertegun Award last year.

Jacqueline is survived by her husband Clarence and two adult children, Alex and Nicole Avant.
