J. Cole’s hoop dreams may have come and gone, but the Dreamville boss is still making waves with his own sneaker. The PUMA-signed entertainer introduced the Ebony and Ivory colorway of his RS-Dreamer kicks — but fans had something else on their minds.
Cole’s followers immediately hopped into his mentions blaming him for getting their hopes up about the announcement being new music. The North Carolina native has remained relatively quiet on the music front this year, outside of releasing “The Climb Back” and “Lion King On Ice” two-pack in July and his “Snow On the Bluff” response to Noname in June.
“Everyone thinking it was the album,” one Twitter user wrote. “The disappointment !!”
An0ther added, “Fuck them shoes brah drop some music! Tf you talkin’ bout Ebony & Ivory FOH!”
Cole began teasing the RS-Dreamer during Chicago’s NBA All-Star weekend in February with a short film recounting his love for the sport.
The upcoming RS-Dreamer Ebony and Ivory colorway will be available at PUMA retailers and online on Friday (December 4). The breathable suede basketball shoe was debuted by several NBA players inside the Orlando bubble this summer, including Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma.
“When said out loud, all the best dreams sound crazy,” Cole said in a press release of the breathable mesh sneaker in July. “Dreamer was created with the belief that, still, we must follow ours, no matter how unachievable they may seem to others.”
Cole’s last album KOD arrived in 2018. He’s released a pair of December albums during the course of his career with 2016’s 4 Your Eyez Only and 2014 Forest Hills Drive.
