Inna (born Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu) is a Romanian-based singer/songwriter who has embraced the Latin culture thanks to her loyal fans in Latin America. Now, she presents the official music video for her single “Te Vas,” premiering exclusively on Billboard today (May 30).
In the vibrant video, Inna is joined by a male model, and the two intertwine in a back-and-forth dance routine, highlighting a relationship that is on-and-off. She also tells Billboard that this is the first time she does acrobats.
"I spent some days in a row in the dance studio with my choreographer and dancer Dragos Istvan and after that, with two days before shooting the video, we moved to the location of the video and practiced a lot with the acrobat. It was a really cool experience and I enjoyed it, even if it was tiring," she says.
The single is true to Inna's authentic style, fusing house music with global rhythms. Lyrically, she sings about a love that is irreplaceable and even if the other person walks away, they’ll return someday. "'Te Vas' is a passionate love story told by the woman who was left behind," she says, emphasizing that even though she loves all her songs, this one is her favorite. "Each of these songs talks about a different experience, character, situation, something that I feel I have lived in another life."
“Te Vas,” along with her previously-released singles “Tu Manera,” "Sin Ti," "Ra" and “Iguana,” will appear on her upcoming sixth studio album YO, out Roc Nation tomorrow (May 31). The album was entirely written in Spanish by Inna, and is home to experimental music influenced by gypsy rhythms.
