She also revealed her bonkers workout regimen, which includes sword training and "astro-gliding."
Grimes is teaming up with Stella McCartney for an upcoming Adidas by Stella McCartney campaign centered on sustainability using eco-friendly fabrics. It's the second time the pair have collaborated, following up on Grimes' appearance in a series of 2016 commercials for McCartney's POP perfume. The singer posted a pic from the Adidas campaign on Monday (July 15) in which she is posed atop a mountain while wearing a pair of black and blue shorts and matching top, her rainbow hair flowing in the wind.
What was most eye-opening, though, was the singer's detailing of her intense "360" workout regimen, which includes some rather unorthodox routines. "I first maintain a healthy cellular routine where I maximize the function of my mitochondria with supplements such as NAD+, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Magnesium, etc. This helps promote ATP and it’s incredibly visceral."
After that, she spends 2-4 hours in a sensory-deprivation tank, which allows her to "astro-glide" to dimensions "past, present, and future," then a few hours of sword fighting in the afternoon with a trainer and a 30-45 minute wind-down with an inclined hike. There's 45 minutes of stretching before she hits her red-light-outfitted studio with her mind and body functioning at "peak level." Of course she also warms up with a 20-25 minute "screaming session" coupled with some slow-boiled honey tea for maximum vocal proficiency.
And, because she's Grimes, she also claimed that she has "eliminated all blue light from my vision through an experimental surgery that removes the top film of my eyeball and replaces it with an orange ultra-flex polymer that my friend and I made in the lab this past winter as a means to cure seasonal depression." Oh, and she sleeps with a humidifier on.
She got some serious props on her intense routine from a number of fellow singers, who weighed in with comments on the Insta post. "Humidifiers YASSS," wrote Katy Perry, with JunglePussy adding "SAMEEEEE OMG" and Feist writing, "this is my favourite thing I've ever read on the Internet." Tove Lo had to admit that she does "at least 48% of this.. sometimes."
Grimes announced in March that she is prepping an upcoming album entitled Miss_Anthropocene, which she described as a "concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world... She’s composed of Ivory and Oil.” So far we've heard the song, “We Appreciate Power” featuring Hana, which she called an introduction to the “pro-AI-propaganda girl group who embody our potential enslavement/destruction at the hands of Artificial General intelligence.”
