Tickets for Green Day’s 2020 all-stadiums trek with Fall Out Boy and Weezer went on sale this morning (Sept. 20), and the Hella Mega Tour’s most decorated rockers marked the occasion by dropping a new music video.
The vid for “Father Of All…,” the lead single and title track off their forthcoming studio album, features the trio rocking out alongside a smorgasbord of found footage featuring dancers, fighters, protesters, and other assorted rabble-rousers. There are also a lot of snakes and some animals wearing clothes.
“We wanted to make something about dancing. Anxiety. Tribalism. Joy.. and straight up violence,” the video’s YouTube description reads. “None of this is choreographed.”
All that sounds in line with how frontman Billie Joe Armstrong described the new album (out Feb. 7 on Reprise/Warner Records) to Billboard in our recent Hella Mega cover story. "It’s very high energy -- 10 songs in 26 minutes," Armstrong revealed. "I like to feel some sense of joy, living through the chaos of [this] era."
Green Day, Fall Out Boy, and Weezer all released new singles last week to coincide with the announcement of their joint tour. "Father Of All..." picked up solid radio play in its first week, debuting at No. 13 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart and No. 14 on Mainstream Rock Songs.
