Frank Ocean Hosting NY Club Night With ‘Zero Tolerance’ For ‘Any Form Of Discrimination’

Frank Ocean is hosting a throwback Thursday club night in New York that will imagine a time before effective HIV/AIDS prevention was available.

According to Gayletter, the Blonded-brand party will be called PrEP+, described as an "homage to what could have been of the 1980s' NYC club scene if the drug PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) -- which can be taken daily to prevent HIV/AIDS for those who are not infected but are at high risk -- had been invented in that era."

The first in what promises to be a series of themed nights is being hyped as an ongoing safe space meant to bring people together to dance to music from "globally celebrated DJs," beginning with Thursday night's (Oct. 17) kick-off event. At press time, the DJ lineup had not yet been announced and Ocean had not independently confirmed his participation; a spokesperson for Ocean confirmed the information listed in the announcement.

In a recent interview with W Magazine, Ocean said he has been focuing on electronic music lately and that he's been "interested in club, and many different iterations of nightlife for music and songs," giving a specific shout-out to scenes in Detroit and Chicago, as well as techno, house and French electronic music.
