The track is the first from Vance’s forthcoming ‘From Muscle Shoals’ LP.
Foy Vance has not one, but two albums in store for fans this year, the Northern Irish singer-songwriter revaled Friday (May 17). The 45-year-old singer kicked off his big release plans with a heartfelt new song titled "You Love Are My Only," premiering a special acoustic version of the track on Billboard.
The first of Vance's two albums is called From Muscle Shoals, as it was recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, at the iconic FAME Studios. During the recording process, Vance sat down with just his acoustic guitar and belted out the romantic "You Love Are My Only" — and luckily for Foy's fans, the movingly intimate performance was captured on video.
"It was a truly enriching experience to make this record in FAME Recording Studios," Vance tells Billboard in a statement. "I had a feeling it might be, so I made sure my friend Babysweet — Gregg Houston of Babysweet Produtions — came along with me to document it, more for myself than anyone else to be quite honest. When the sessions finished, Babysweet and I stayed on in the evenings documenting acoustic versions of some of the songs and gorging on the endless stories from folks who knew the full history of the place."
Vance also reveals that there's more footage where this video came from, which he'll be releasing in the coming months. From Muscle Schoals will be available June 28 on Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records, Vance's label home since November 2015. The second LP, To Memphis, will be released in September and will serve as a companion piece to From Muscle Shoals, with both "paying homage to the deeply rooted soul and Americana traditions that have influenced Vance's approach to songwriting," as stated in a release.
Fans who pre-order From Muscle Shoals will receive the studio version of "You Love Are My Only," but you can check out Vance's acoustic rendition below.
