Two the most popular things in the world right now are Avengers: Infinity War and Fortnite. While Infinity War is destroying the box fice, it just became the fastest movie to a billion dollars ever, Fortnite just started season four. The latest season has added a bunch goodies, including secret underground bases that hint at superheroes and villains. Those heroes and villains better appear and unite soon, because Avengers’ baddie Thanos will be gracing the game for a limited time.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Fortnite and Marvel are teaming up to bring the Mad Titan to the battle royale styled game. Called the “Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup” mode, the game feels like a regular game. The main difference is that 100 players will have the chance to find the fabled Infinity Gauntlet, with all six stones already attached. The player that locates the gauntlet will transform into Thanos himself, and be able to wield the power that murdered half the universe in the blink an eye.
“Over the past few months, while we were editing Infinity War, we’d take breaks to hop on and get in a few games,” Joe Russo, one half the Russo brothers (Infinity War directors) told EW. “And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind Avengers–Fortnite mashup? So we stalked Donald.” Donald Mustard is the creative director Fortnite developer Epic Games.
“Out the blue, I get this call from Joe. And after a bit geeking out over each other’s work, we start brainstorming these crazy ideas,” Mustard revealed to EW. “It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans both would be excited about. About an hour later, we had the bones this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”
