Fat Joe & Bun B Have Completely Different Takes On Tom Brady’s Greatness

Bun B stopped by the I Am Athlete podcast on Monday (January 31) alongside Lil KeKe and Kendrick Perkins to talk Tom Brady’s recent retirement and who he considers to be the Brady and Aaron Rodgers equivalent in the rap game.

“Tom Brady is Hov cause we talking rings,” Bun B said confidently as someone can be heard saying, “Well that was easy.” He continued, “We talkin’ rings. We talkin’ bout you can say everything else that you’ve done in rap and then here come Hov and he overdid it. You talk about sales, Hov. You talk about shows, Hov. You talk about crowd, Hov. You talk about reverence, Hov.”

Bun B went on to say that anyone who enters the rap game strives to be like JAY-Z just as NFL quarterbacks strive to be like Brady.

“Like that’s where you want to be,” he added. “Like if you’re a quarterback and you come to the NFL you’re aspiring to be Tom Brady. You’re aspiring to get those rings, those chips. You come into Hip Hop, you’re aspiring to be JAY-Z. You want that respect, admiration, the sales, the woman, you want the life. You want all of that.”

In terms of Aaron Rodgers, Bun B said his equivalent would probably be Nas because of the matter-of-fact way they both conduct themselves.

“Aaron Rodgers would probably be Nas because Nas is never really caught up in being the shit and being in the spotlight,” he said. “He comes he does what he does he performs at a high-level constantly and then he goes back in the shadows. We don’t really know what Nas does on a daily basis.”

Bun B concluded by saying “Nas is the best writer, but JAY-Z is the most successful rapper.”

I Am Athlete shared an Instagram clip of some of Bun B’s explanations, which inspired Fat Joe to take to the comment section to offer his own analogy to describe the 7x-Super Bowl champion. “Tom is the Michael Jordan of football period,” Fat Joe wrote.
