It’s been over two years since J.I.D‘s last studio album DiCaprio 2, but that looks like it’s going to change in 2021. The Dreamville rapper has been locked in the studio to kick off the New Year and is teasing some high-profile collaborations.

J.I.D’s upcoming LP made HipHopDX’s Most Anticipated Albums of 2021 list and is rumored to be titled The Forever Story. He posted footage in the studio with Cordae, which would mark the first time the wordsmiths join forces.

“Recording it as I type this,” Cordae wrote on January 21.

The Atlanta native is also reportedly working with a versatile crew of artists that includes Anderson. Paak, James Blake and Rico Nasty.

“Send me the song again I’m doing it tomorrow I got a new phone stink,” Rico wrote on Twitter.

J.I.D previously announced he was teaming up with producing legend No I.D. on a conceptual project in 2018, but there’s no word if he’s slated to have made the beats on this album.

The 30-year-old kept busy in 2020 with his Spillage Village collective releasing their Spilligion album. J.I.D also dished out a handful of assists when making guest appearances on Aminé’s “Roots” alongside Charlie Wilson as well as Kenny Beats and Smino’s “Baguetti.”
