Drake hasn’t lost his touch one bit. The 6ix God maintained relatively quiet for the latter half 2017 but the second he rang in the new year, he was already plotting his 2018 takeover. Footage from a New Year’s party surfaced with a snippet “God’s Plan” which immediately sparked anticipation for new music from Drake. A few weeks later and the rapper dropped f two singles as part his Scary Hours EP. “God’s Plan” became the fan favorite and the strength streaming numbers have helped him claim the top position on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks straight.
Drake’s “God’s Plan” hasn’t budged on the Billboard Hot 100 since it debuted on number one seven weeks a go, Billboard reports. According to Nielson Music, the song received 81.8 million streams within the week, making the song have seven out 10 the biggest streaming weeks ever. It’s clear that Drake’s latest single is now his biggest song to date. In addition, the video for “God’s Plan” helped keep the buzz around the song and has garnered over 162M hits on YouTube since dropping in mid-February.
His collaboration with BlocBoy JB on “Look Alive” is also sitting the top 10 the Billboard Hot 100 at number 7.
According to chartdata, “God’s Plan” also the first song to hit atleast 75M U.S. streams within seven separate weeks and has ficially sold over 500K in pure copies in the U.S.
A few days a go, Drake also revealed that he’s working on his upcoming album “for the city” Toronto. While there’s no mention when we could expect it, hopefully it sees the light day in 2018.
