Drake Takes $275K Loss Betting Against Colby Covington For UFC 272 Main Event

Las Vegas, NV – Drake’s loyalty toward the underdog bit him in the worst way on Saturday (March 5). After amassing plenty of wins on sports bets and roulette in recent weeks, the 6 God decided to place a hefty wager on UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal in his highly anticipated grudge match against Colby Covington at UFC 272 in Las Vegas.

With Covington as the betting favorite due to his wrestling and stamina, Drake decided to put down $275,000 on Masvidal to secure the upset — and a massive payday for him. Unfortunately for Drake and Masvidal, Covington easily won the fight by unanimous decision.

After Covington got wind of the bet, he quickly began trash-talking Drake in his usual bluster and fanfare. According to TMZ, Covington decided to go after Drizzy’s “shitty music.”

“Let’s talk about all the money that Drake lost tonight,” Covington said. “He needs to go back to selling those shitty albums to get back the money. Drake, you suck at sports betting. Go back to your shitty little albums and rapping.”

Drake may have pocketed $1,000,000 if Masivdal was able to pull off the upset but when you recently purchased a $70,000,000 mansion, losing $125,000 is nothing.

The frequency of Drake’s winnings in gambling prompted him to partner with Bitcoin casino and sports betting company Stake for a live betting event to take place at a future date. The move comes with a bit of a humanitarian twist — Drake will be giving away all of his winnings to fans.

“It was inevitable,” he said on Instagram. “Drake and @stake have come together. I am going to be announcing a date for an upcoming live event where I play to win some real money and give it all to you because what’s better than sharing the love with my people. Stay tuned for details.”
