Drake Compares Himself To Kobe Bryant After Clinching SBL Basketball Championship

81

Toronto, Canada – Drake can call himself a champion once again. On Tuesday (June 14), Drizzy, Chubbs and OVO Mark — otherwise known as Team NTIG — took home the Sanctuary Basketball League trophy for the third time in a row.

Clips surfacing on social media showed the intense championship game, which ended with a smooth mid-range jumper from Chubbs to clinch the league. The 6 God is one to boast, and he wasted no time doing exactly that during his post-game interview.

“I did what Kobe did in Game 7 against the Celtics,” Drake yelled at the cameraman. “Shots not falling, play fucking defense.”

The late Kobe Bryant grabbed a double-double in Game 7 against the Boston Celtics in the 2010 NBA Finals, putting up 23 points and snagging 15 rebounds. Drake most likely did not put those same numbers up, but his press conference showed his determination to close out the season with a dub.

With the victory, NTIG will be receiving brand new trophies this season. One of Drake’s friends broke down the new hardware on social media, explaining how outrageous but cool the gold chip looked.

“Alright, I’m going to break down this trophy,” Drizzy’s homie said. “The trophy has a durag. The trophy does not have a six-pack; let’s just say that. The trophy’s form could use some work, but you know what, this is our league, SBL for life. Energy!”

Last season, Drake ended the SBL championship game in similar fashion to Chubbs as he handled the rock before driving to the basket. Drizzy pulled back his dribble at the last second, causing his defender to stumble in the opposite direction and set up the off-the-glass jumper.
