She may not have made it to the top 4, but RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Blair St. Clair has charted higher than any her Season 10 sisters with the club-ready “Now or Never,” which peaked at No. 18 on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart.
The video for the track counted over 1.7 million views since its late April premiere, and now the Indiana-born queen is following it up with another electronic track, “Call My Life.”
St. Clair reveals that the song’s title was inspired by different elements in her life that helped her find and own her inner voice. “Now I’m using that voice a little more literally. The song 'Call My Life' is a metaphor for the busy, worldly lives we lead versus the simple moments we forget,” she says in a statement. “I’m trying to call attention that sometimes the most glamorous life all isn’t outwardly driven but comes from living a happy life.”
The video is introspective, with its star questioning realizing that the glitz fame doesn't equate to happiness. “The lyrics 'Call my life/Here I am/I’ve been waiting for you' refers to the idea waiting for fame, while 'Call my life/ Take a chance/ Cause I know you’re real to' symbolizes the chance one may take at fame to risk losing everything that may have been real in life,” St. Clair explains.
The video features cameos from Drag Race alum Eureka, Mayhem Miller, Manila Luzon, Pandora Boxx and JuJuBee.
The song is the title track f her upcoming album, out this Friday (June 29) on PEG Records. Call My Life is available for pre-order and includes instant gratification tracks “Now or Never” and “Call My Life.”
