South Korea’s Sports Donga reported on Saturday (July 14) that Korean septet BTS will be putting out new music in August.
A special release featuring 2-3 new songs from the chart-topping act is reported to be a separate entity from the group’s No. 1 album Love Yourself: Tear, which made history upon its release in May. In the past, the group has put out extended reissued albums, known as “repackages” in South Korea, but this reportedly will be a stand-alone release.
The group will reportedly film a music video for the upcoming release, and perform the new music in South Korea for the first time at the kick-f their Love Yourself world tour on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26 in Seoul. They will then head to North America for over a dozen sold-out stops their concert series.
Neither BTS nor their label Big Hit Entertainment have confirmed the report at this time, though fans on social media reacted with excitement. The group’s ARMY trended #BTSISCOMINGBACK for several hours on Saturday in response to the news report. (Billboard has reached out to the act’s representatives for confirmation.)
The upcoming release would be the first new music from BTS since they made history as the first Korean artist to top the Billboard 200 with the first non-predominantly English album to achieve the feat in over a decade. Love Yourself: Tear went on to become one the best-selling physical albums Stateside in the first half 2018.
