Diddy's Sean John Releases Jean-Michel Basquiat Collection


For 20 years, Diddy has been revolutionizing the fashion game with his Sean John clothing line. To celebrate the company's 20th anniversary, the rap mogul has teamed up with the estate legendary painter Jean-Michel Basquiat to launch a special apparel release.

The Sean John x Basquiat collection boasts some Basquiat’s famous paintings embroidered on T-shirts, denim jackets, jeans and more. Some the art pieces include “Melting Point Ice,” “Dog” and “Pez Dispenser.”

“We wanted to pay homage to Basquiat’s creative genius with this capsule collection,” said Sean John president, Jeff Tweedy, in a press release ( Vibe). “Basquiat’s influence on culture transcended race and class to highlight more pressing issues on society that are still relevant today."

"Using his art as a medium to fight racism, combat cultural appropriation or rebelling against power structures—Basquiat always challenged the standard," he continued. "We felt that it was vital to tell his story and educate our consumers on this talented artist.”

Diddy added, “It was his story and steady climb in the art world that really intrigued our team when we were mapping out this collaboration. Basquiat used his art as a vessel to delve further into his definition being a black man in America."

The Sean John x Basquiat capsule collection will be available exclusively at Macy’s stores and their ficial webstore later this month.
