Richard Mille watches are a staple in Hip Hop whether rappers are wearing the jewelry or name-dropping the luxury brand in their lyrics, but Diddy isn’t a fan. The Bad Boy founder took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday night (August 25) to say he thinks the watches are ugly and suggested spending money on real estate instead.

“I’m not a hater though, I’m a connoisseur of fly shit,” he began. “But I’m just telling y’all you getting tricked by the Richard Mille. The Richard Mille is like a Timex or some shit like that. You understand what I’m saying? It’s not hot. I have like two or three. I never pull ’em out… they ugly.”

He added, “I don’t even wanna hate. I don’t even know Richard Mille. But fuck, I’m on some Black shit. Black man, save your money and go buy a house.”

Shortly after sharing his thoughts, Diddy posted another video further explaining himself with a car comparison.

“Aye, aye, aye, everybody pipe down,” he said. “It’s my opinion. I love fly shit. That’s my opinion. Somebody could be like, the Rolls-Royce Phantom over the Bentley Mulsanne. I’d personally take the Mulsanne… many of y’all might not take that. It’s like, live your life and understand I say what I say. Get some property Black men and women, let’s go. Yeah, we know what to do. I tricked, but I got some property.”

In January 2020, Diddy was spotted courtside at a Miami Heat game wearing an iced-out Richard Mille RM 11-03 McLaren alongside Meek Mill and DJ Khaled, with GQ including the timepiece in their Watches of the Week article.

JAY-Z would likely disagree with Diddy’s thoughts based on his recent choice of accessories. Over the Fourth of July weekend, Hov attended Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin’s holiday party and was seen wearing a limited edition Richard Mille RM 56-01 Tourbillon in green sapphire worth a whopping $3 million.

During his Webster Hall concert in April 2019, JAY-Z freestyled about his custom Richard Mille 56 with a blue sapphire case that cost $2.5 million and took 3,000 hours to make: “Blueprint on my wrist cost 2.5, only thing that flips the script between you and I.”
