He's mysterious, stoic and one Geffen Records' newest signees. Devault, the lanky, 80s-fitted producer out Orange County, Calif., has steadily built up a catalog brooding landscapes and is now releasing the title track f his upcoming Stay EP.
The record, which features Bipolar Sunshine and Njomza, mirrors the upstart's moody compositions and comes paired with distressed footage him riding away on a dirtbike. "I’ve been working on this track for a little over a year now," Devault tells Billboard, "And surprisingly, I worked on two different ideas separately with Njomza and Bipolar Sunshine and realized them together was just the perfect match, so I blended both ideas."
"He is sophisticated, dark and young – all while having an incredible ear for melody (specifically in his drops)," says Geffen Records president Neil Jacobson. "Devault beats knock harder then almost any that I have heard in god knows how long."
Bipolar Sunshine says, "I’m at my best when I’m giving a colors to paint the canvas. Njomza vocals blends so well with the production, it feels mad exciting." Njomza adds, "I love jumping into different worlds when it comes to music. Working with Devault and Bipolar Sunshine was a refreshing experience I think we all brought our own sauce to the table. The song is special."
The electronic producer's previous works include ficial remixes for DJ Snake, Kehlani, AlunaGeorge, as well as a string singles. Devault considers "Stay" a "perfect start to the story and world I want to create, where dark energy and intimacy are in perfect sequence."
