Demi Lovato posted a tribute to her friend Thomas on Wednesday (Oct. 9) after she said he died following a struggle with addiction.
"Devastated. Please hold your loved ones tight," she wrote to her Instagram Story. "Tell them they are special and that you love them. Make sure they know it. RIP to my boo."
She followed with a second post, adding, "Addiction is no joke.. heaven gained this beautiful angel last night because of that terrible disease. I'm crushed and will always miss you @sirtruss. If you or someone you know is struggling please know it's okay to ask for help."
The 27-year-old singer who has had her own battles with addiction — including a hospitalization in 2018 after receiving medical care following a reported overdose at her Hollywood home on July 24 — wrote last August about being open when discussing her struggles. "I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction," she wrote. "What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet."
