Pop singer Daya is just as anxious as you are. On her last release “Insomnia,” the 20-year-old artist sang about the feeling of loving someone so much that having to sleep without them is impossible. On her newest track, Daya is continuing in that same vein.
On Friday (June 21), Daya released a new song and music video “Left Me Yet,” a pulsing pop track that follows the singer down a spiral of dark thoughts, as she criticizes herself and wonders aloud why her lover is still with her. “I push you away, why do I do that?” she asks. “Impatient, but you're patient with me/ I'm surprised you haven't left me yet.”
The glossy new video for the track follows suit, as Daya is seen in various different dream-like landscapes, dancing through her pain. In a grove of trees tied up in red string, or in a pool of clouded water, the singer takes us through each of her own personal insecurities as she confronts her inner-demons.
The song is the second track off from Daya’s upcoming sophomore album, due later this year. In the meantime, the rising star has already slated a number of performances at this year’s biggest Pride festivals, including Dan Reynolds’ LOVELOUD in Utah and the opening ceremony of New York City’s WorldPride festival.
