DaBaby Speaks Out Following Brother’s Death

DaBaby is breaking his silence following his brother’s death.

On Tuesday, the rapper’s older brother, Glenn Johnson, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 34 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

DaBaby changed his Instagram bio to read “LONG LIVE MY BROTHER” and posted the lyrics from the “Intro” to his KIRK album: “My brother be thinkin’ that we don’t love him and let him struggle like we ain’t family / Like I won’t give up all I got to see you happy.”

In his caption, he added, “I would’ve gave up all I had to see you happy ni**a.”

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, the “Rockstar” rapper mourned the loss while sharing a prayer for his family.

“Death don’t phase me at all, watching my family suffer does,” he wrote. “GOD watch over my family, my mama, my nieces & nephew & they mama, my brother. Don’t worry bout me take whatever you was do for me and pour it into them. & keep me cool, cuz God you know! The world don’t Amen.”

DaBaby previously shared a message with his followers, encouraging them to check in on their loved ones. “Check on your people,” he said. “It’s my advice. I want you to call and say, ‘What’s up? Are you straight?’”

In the days since the tragedy, DaBaby has been spending time with his family including his nieces in Charlotte. In an Instagram Story, he was seen driving with a white floral cross in the back seat of his car while listening to NoCap’s “Ghetto Angels.”
