CupcakKe Tweets Honestly About Her Depression & 'Demons,' Receives Support From Missy Elliott


When people think CupcakKe and her music, they ten see the upbeat, carefree and tentimes hysterical rapper making light serious situations and laughing f pain. She’s been an outspoken advocate for women’s rights and LGBTQ equality, inspiring her fans everywhere with her radiant positivity.

But on Wednesday night, the rapper got honest with her audience about her own struggles with depression, saying that she is currently at a low point. “I try to be as positive as possible but I just want to say I'm at a very low & depressed point in my life,” she tweeted. “I didn't realize it until I went 4 days without eatting sic].”

She sent out a few more tweets saying that she didn’t feel excited about anything anymore and ended her stream consciousness by writing, “I been feeling this way for a while so please understand if you never hear from me again ... it's nothing no one could did to make my life better ... it's just me and my demons.”

While the rapper’s fans immediately began inundating her replies with messages love and support, one specific user stood out among the rest. Rap icon and legend Missy Elliott tweeted in reply to CupcakKe’s message, letting her know that while they may not have ever met, she still wanted the best for her.

“I don’t know you but I pray for your strength & a peace mind... know that you have people who love you & there is lots people like you,” Elliott wrote on Twitter. “Don’t give up keep pushing so you can help others.”
