U.K. punk rock outfit Counterfeit. has signed with Lava/Republic Records, Billboard can exclusively announce today (Sept. 5).
Tomorrow, the band will also premiere their new single “It Gets Better," which features frontman Jamie Campbell Bower — who also acts in the Twilight franchise, and has been cast in HBO's upcoming Game of Thrones prequel — delivering a heartfelt promise of redemption and optimism over charging guitars and punchy drums.
“‘It Gets Better’ is a deeply personal song and its message cuts right to the heart of who we are,” Bower tells Billboard. “Our goal is to bring people together, to dismantle the barriers that divide us as a species and to make a change in the world. We are in a time of need. We need to come together and to learn to love again…it's a small start but if we try, I do believe that we can start to change things because I myself have learnt that with these small steps it does indeed get better.”
The new single marks Counterfeit.’s first release with Lava/Republic Records, a label the frontman says the band is “overjoyed” to be working with.
“When I first heard Counterfeit.'s music, it made me want to jump around, scream and pump my fist in the air,” said Lava Records founder Jason Flom, “and when I met Jamie my Spidey senses started tingling like crazy. I knew I was in the presence of a true rock star! Jamie and his band have made a record that rocks as hard as their live show does, and inside the grooves, there are messages of positivity and hope. I can't wait for you to hear and see them. This is going to be a great ride."
Look out for "It Gets Better" tomorrow (Sept. 6).
The band also announced a North American and UK/Europe tour — check out the dates below.
