Conor McGregor stunned the UFC and MMA during the early stages of Tuesday morning by taking to Twitter to announce his retirement from Mixed Martial Arts. McGregor most recently lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October and hasn't fought since. Many believed he would take on Cowboy Cerrone in his next fight, but McGregor seemed apprehensive about signing a deal. Perhaps his feelings of wanting to retire are why he never tried to finalize a fight.
"Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today," McGregor wrote. "I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!"
