The excitement around “Devil” helps boost the K-pop girl group onto a new chart.
Just over four years after CLC hit the K-pop scene, the buzz around the girl group's latest single landed them inside the Social 50 chart.
CLC debut at No. 47 on Billboard's Social 50 chart dated Sept. 14, 2019. The seven-member troupe saw a majority of their activity coming from Twitter for the tracking week of Aug. 30-Sept. 5, scoring 148,000 Twitter reactions and 61,000 Twitter mentions to bow on the ranking. The Social 50 is powered by data tracked by music analytics company Next Big Sound and ranks the most popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Wikipedia. The chart's methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers with artist page views and engagement.
CLC fans were hyped ahead of the Sept. 6 release of "Devil," with the group's official Twitter sharing sharing the single cover (the most-engaged with piece of content), parts of the song's lyrics, group photos, two snippets of the music video and individual profile shots of the seven members all in the week ahead of the release. This is now CLC's third time releasing new music in 2019 following their No.1 EP and summer single "Me."
To date, CLC has entered several charts including World Albums (where No.1 earned them their first Top 5 entry earlier this year), Heatseekers Albums (their first entry also came thanks to No.1 earlier this year) and World Digital Song Sales (with three Top 5 singles, including "No" from earlier this year which tied their peak position of No. 4 on the tally). While it's still yet to see if CLC's new song can enter the charts, the increased social attention indicates a healthy, growing interest and following in the band and could certainly lead to even more future Billboard success.
