John Legend is certainly living up to his last name as he ficially became a show business icon on Sunday (Sept. 9).
Taking home an Emmy thanks to his incredible work on the 2018 live TV production Jesus Chris Superstar!, the vocal powerhouse is the latest to join the extremely exclusive EGOT club -- a select group artists who count an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award to their list accomplishments.
The singer achieved EGOT status after receiving the award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert at the 2018 Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday night (Sept. 9). Along with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, Legend was an executive producer the show.
Notoriously supportive wife Chrissy Teigen couldn't be more proud Legend's latest triumph as she documented their evening at the Creative Emmy Awards and took to social media to praise her gifted partner with a series heartfelt posts.
Legend told ET that winning was "kind surreal," adding that "It's something I never even thought about when I started my career. I probably wanted to win some GRAMMYs and sell a lot records, and all that started happening pretty quickly, but I never dreamed that I would be here, winning an Emmy, and being in that rare group people that have won all four these major awards"
