Chris Stapleton proudly wore his heart on his sleeve at the 2019 ACM Awards on Sunday (April 7) when he performed his touching single “A Simple Song."
Joined by his pregnant wife Morgane (the couple are expecting their fifth child) for the duet, the country star crooned the reflective lyrics about the ups and downs of family ties while Morgane affectionately rubbed her growing belly.
The performance was made even more intimate thanks to the all-black stage setting with the romantic glow of barely-there lights. The audience appeared to connect to the music as well and swayed to the rhythm of the mellow chords.
"A Simple Song," a highlight of Stapleton's ACM-nominated From A Room, Vol. 2, was co-written by the singer and his father-in-law, Darrell Hayes. He is one of the most-nominated artists of the night with six nods, including nominations for album of the year, entertainer of the year and male artist of the year.
