Childish Gambino & Rihanna’s Film To Premiere YouTube’s Coachella Livestream

Childish Gambino and Rihanna have been working on a film called Guava Island for a minute. A trailer for the film debuted at Childish Gambino’s PHAROS Festival, although details surrounding the project have been relatively scarce. A Spotify ad popped up last week which revealed a release date for the Hiro Murai-directed film and now, it’s confirmed that the film will be making its debut this weekend at Coachella.

The YouTube Livestream of Coachella 2019 will include the premiere of Childish Gambino and Rihanna’s Guava Island, according to reports. The ad that popped up on Spotify announced an April 13th release date which is one day after Gambino headlines Coachella. Many believed that the film would be debuting at the festival but it’ll be available on YouTube’s Livestream.

YouTube’s partnered with Coachella over the years for the festival’s live stream but this marks the first time that YouTube and Coachella will be live streaming both weekends. YouTube and Coachella announced their “Coachella Curated” which includes “encore and live performances, artist commentary, mini-docs, animated adventures, and more” along with the normal live stream of the festival. Jason Bentley from KCRW is set to be the host.

With the debut of Guava Island this weekend, maybe we could hope that both we’ll get new music from both Rihanna and Childish Gambino. As you’ve probably heard, Rihanna’s been teasing her upcoming project but she hasn’t confirmed any release date for it. As for Donald Glover, he claims that he’s readying the retirement of his musical alter-ego.
