Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) performed “Terrified” at the 2018 Grammy Awards in New York on Sunday night (Jan. 28).
Backed by a full band, the rapper-singer, dressed in an all-white suit, delivered an electrifying rendition the song, which is from his third album, Awaken My Love!, which is up for Album the year. Joining him onstage was child actor JD McCrary who appears on the original tune.
Some might quibble that Gambino didn’t perform his Get Out-featured song “Redbone,” which is up for Record the Year. But don't fret, earlier tonight, at a pre-Grammy showcase, Gambino received a trophy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for "Redbone.”
So it's a win-win for all.
Expect to hear more Childish Gambino in the future. The Grammy-winning rapper recently inked a new deal with RCA Records.
According to a statement from RCA CEO Peter Edge, the deal will usher in the “next phase” Gambino's musical career.
“Donald is undoubtedly one the most talented, multi-faceted, young entertainers this era," he stated. Glover added, "It was a necessary change pace."
A rep for the rapper told Complex that any new material will most likely drop in 2019 at the earliest.
Nevertheless, Childish Gambino left us with a memorable Grammy performance. Watch it above.
