Chance the Rapper’s ‘Acid Rap’ & ’10 Day’ Debut on HipHopMagz 200 After Streaming & Retail Release

“Acid Rap” is now Chance’s highest-charting album.

In the first full tracking week after Chance the Rapper’s mixtapes Acid Rap and 10 Day were make available  retail and on streaming services for the first time, both mixtapes debut across Billboard’s charts.

Acid Rap, which was originally released in 2013 as a free digital download, debuts at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with 40,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending July 4, according to Nielsen Music. The set becomes his highest-charting set and second top 10 of his career, following 2016’s Coloring Book, which debuted and peaked at No. 8.

Of the mixtape's 14 tracks, only “Juice” isn’t available for streaming, as its samples weren’t cleared in time. The track is replaced with a 30-second voice memo of Chance explaining why the song isn’t available.

Acid Rap concurrently debuts at No. 3 on Top Rap Albums and Top Album Sales. It also re-enters the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at No. 3, a new peak. It spent one week on the chart on the strength of sales alone in 2013 at No. 63.

The critically acclaimed mixtape contains guest features from Childish Gambino, Action Bronson, Noname and BJ the Chicago Kid, among others.

Further down on the Billboard 200, Chance’s debut mixtape 10 Day opens at No. 73 with 10,000 equivalent album units. Similar to Acid Rap10 Day was originally released as a free digital downloads in 2012 and was made available  retail and  streaming platforms on June 28.

Plus, Chance’s Grammy Award-winning third mixtape Coloring Book re-enters the Billboard 200 at No. 46, thanks to its retail release on June 28. (It was already available as a streaming set.) Its units increased 174%, from 5,000 to 13,000. The set peaked at No. 8 in June 2016 as the first streaming-exclusive album to chart on the Billboard 200.

Chance’s debut studio album is now available for pre-order and is due out this month.
